Review: Hollywood Dreaming
In the past few years, local playwright Marvin Harold Cheiten has covered such topics as an ancient queen of the classics, an island of mystery a la Agatha Christie, and parodies of other genres as well. Now he turns his attention to Hollywood — its characters and its foibles. The Star is a rather gentle poke at Tinseltown and its habitual challenge for the pure in heart. It is the tale of a young girl from New Jersey (Margate, actually) who wins a trip to the West Coast and an audition in Hollywood for a part in a teen-age film.
