FringeNYC Review - Perez Hilton Saves the Universe - Combatting Terrorism, Merrily

Gossip blogger extraordinaire Perez Hilton (or at least Randy Blair's impersonation of the pink-haired dish icon) finds himself in the middle of an Al-Qaeda plot to murder scores of Los Angeleans in "Perez Hilton Saves the Universe," a tuner that whimsically combines Americans' need to know the latest dirt on the likes of Paris Hilton, Amy Winehouse and R Kelly with the always-looming (at least according to some State Department sources) threat of terrorist attacks.
It all starts when Hilton is contacted for a date on a gay singles site. He's naturally delighted, but entirely unsuspecting of the other man's hidden agenda. Soon, Hilton's being trained as an operative to combat terrorism (by the adult incarnation of an unlikely former child star) and scores of celebs, jones-ing for a mention on his blog, are out for his blood. Zach Redler's score delights as does the indefatigable ensemble. "Hilton" may not do much to save musical theater, but it certainly is a delicious romp for late summer.
